Plants vs. Zombies is a rather unconventional game in the Tower Defense genre, in which we defend a family from an attack by funny zombies. The project was developed by PopCap Games, creators of arcade logic games such as Peggle Deluxe or Bejeweled.

Variety of Missions and Challenges

Although fans of the Tower Defense genre have seen many games whose action takes place in different realities, the hero of our review can surprise even them. In the game, we defend our house from a zombie attack. To do this, we need to place an army of funny flowers and vegetables on the lawn of the house. For each additional "green guardian" we have to pay with solar energy (sunshine). The energy is collected on the lawn or produced by sunflowers. In addition to the main adventure, consisting of more than a dozen missions, the developers have prepared a lot of other challenges.


Each level consists of several "paths" used by zombies. Our task is to secure each of them. If we let the enemy break in, we can still save the situation by making one last attempt to turn on the lawnmower.

We have many types of plants at our disposal, offering several special effects such as production (sunflowers), general attack, slowing down, igniting or exploding, as well as passive objects, including stones, among others, which allow us to stop the enemy for a while. The undead horde also consists of more than a dozen types of zombies armed with poles, pots, traffic cones, or even ice axes.

Accessible and understandable

Plants vs. Zombies is highly accessible, as all of its ins and outs are gradually revealed and explained to players, as well as intuitive, so control should not cause any problems. Despite its somewhat somber theme, namely the presence of zombies, the game has a very fun and cheerful tone. The beautiful visuals and fun soundtrack deserve special attention.
